It is found in the central Andes of South America, in the Cordillera Blanca and the Huascarán National Park. This mountain can be climbed almost all year round, it is even here where you can do climbing and rescue courses because it has cracks and climbing walls.
Day 01: Huaraz – Campo Morrena (5000m)
We start from the city of Huaraz, we cross the Callejón de Huaylas towards Yungay where we will turn east, then we will cross the Llanganuco valley, where two beautiful lagoons Chinancocha and Orconcocha seemed. We continue until we reach Km. 42. There we will begin our walk, crossing the Morrena field. 3 ½ approx in transport 4 hours of walking.
Day 02: Campo Morrena – Summit (5460) – Campo Morrena (5000m) – Huaraz
We will make our ascent at 3 am making a moraine crossing to reach the wide glacier, then we will climb the 180 m. wall (50 – 60 °) until reaching the top. Where we will have a spectacular view such as the Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoys and others.
Then we will start descending along an edge overlooking the chacraraju to La Morrena and we will continue until km 42 where our transport awaits us. 5 to 6 hours approx. Ascent.
Trekking boots, fleece or wool gloves, sun hat, cold hat (polar and / or wool), gore tex windbreaker jacket, gore tex jacket, glasses with UV protection, 40.70 L backpack, water bottle, cream solar, torch front, with extra batteries, first aid kit, camera, sleeping bag – 15 ° C, bath bag and towels, flip flops, trekking poles.
